Young Actor's Company
The Young Company is an educational outreach program of the South Carolina Shakespeare Company (SCSC), the premier classical theatre company in the Midlands.
The SCSC Youth Company is an acting ensemble of interested high school students who would like the opportunity to explore and enhance their theatrical creativity. The students who comprise the Youth Company will be taught and trained by some of the most skilled and accomplished professional actors in our state. They will also take part in exciting workshops throughout the year. And, the young actors will get the chance to work on the two major productions of the SCSC held in the fall and spring.
Master classes are designed to address the changing needs of today's future actors. Both classical and contemporary classes are given each year including monologues and scene study, musical theatre, improvisation, mask work, modern and classical dances, voice and diction, movement for the stage, and audition techniques. The Youth Company ends each year with their own play performance for friends, family, and special guests.
There is no membership fee. The program is paid for through grants and the generosity of friends and supporters of the SCSC. All we ask is that you invest your time and share your energy. You pay your dues by doing three things: (1) attending all SCSC Youth Company workshops, (2) perform, usher, or assist with the both SCSC productions, and (3) awake your imagination to a fun and challenging experience of infinite variety and creativity inspired by the Bard himself!
You won't want to miss this exciting opportunity! The interviews for Youth Company membership begin in May for the 2013-2014 season. All you have to do is fill out the attached form and mail it back to the address below.
